DPCDI Distributes Food Items to Survivors of Wurkun and Karinjo Conflict in Karim Lamido LGA

Following the recent clashes between the Wurkun and Karinjo communities, which led to the displacement of hundreds of families, DEPHEE Peace and Community Development Initiative (DPCDI) organized a rapid relief distribution operation. Executive Director Ambassador Bulus Audu Daniel led the team to distribute vital food materials. During the exercise, Ambassador Bulus Audu expressed deep concern over the living conditions of the displaced families, especially women and children, and appealed to the Taraba State Government, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and international organizations to step up humanitarian assistance to the area to ensure the re-establishment of stable livelihoods.

Recognizing that substance abuse is a major catalyst for youth participation in violence, DPCDI collaborated with local health organizations to host a specialized training session for community mothers and youth. Held in Jalingo, the program aimed to sensitize parents on early detection of drug abuse, prevention strategies, and rehabilitation pathways. Ambassador Bulus Audu emphasized during the panel that stable, drug-free households are the foundation of community security and peaceful coexistence.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding fundamental rights, DPCDI organized a stakeholders advocacy meeting in Jalingo. The workshop brought together formal security agents alongside vigilante groups, local guards, and community watch teams. The sessions focused on rights-based policing, the legal frameworks protecting freedom of belief in Nigeria, and methods for collaborative conflict de-escalation. The participants signed a pledge to uphold impartial protection for all residents, regardless of religious background.

EWER Observer Network Deploys Mobile Peace App & Reporting Hotline

In cooperation with regional development partners, DPCDI has established a centralized telephone hotline to receive early warning signs of conflict. The EWER team has trained and deployed 100 observers equipped with reporting systems. Residents of Jalingo, Karim Lamido, and surrounding areas can call 08140151876 or use the toll-free shortcode 7224 to report unusual gatherings, hate speech campaigns, or minor boundary skirmishes. These reports are analyzed immediately and routed to community mediation teams to prevent escalation.
